Preventive dentistry
Preventive dentistry is the modern way of reducing the amount of dental treatment necessary to maintain a healthy mouth. With you, the dentist and the hygienist all working together we can aim to prevent the need for further treatment, avoiding the traditional pattern of fillings and extractions. We will work out a course of treatment to get your mouth into excellent condition, and then give you a plan to help you keep it that way.
Oral cancer screening
We routinely screen all our adult patients for oral cancer using the Velscope Scanner, which can detect any early signs of pre-cancerous legions which cannot be seen by the naked eye. We are the only dental practice in Leeds to own the Velscope scanner and we feel the investment will be beneficial to our patients as early detection and diagnosis can significantly improve the chances of treatment and recovery.
Dental hygiene treatment and periodontal care
Dental hygienists work together with the dentist and the patient to give advice, information and treatment to provide good oral health. The main role of our hygienist is to remove calcified plaque, polish teeth, apply antibacterial agents, help reduce sensitivity and provide oral care instruction and preventative treatments such as fluoride sealants and coatings. The teeth and mouth are venerable to dental disease such as bleeding gums, dental decay, bad breath (Halitosis), loose teeth and infection. By visiting our hygienist Alison on a regular basis and working together we can help reduce the effects of these problems.
